A little extra something
On my website the coloured squares are the main navigation and theme of my website so i have made a short animation using the boxes as a loading screen for the site. I have added a simple behaviour in dreamwaever to the animation so that it will stop when the mouse is moved, this gives the user the option to watch the whole animation or not.

The designs.

The design for my website is very simple with two shades of grey as the background, font choice is Georgia at 10pt in white and the main navigation around my portfolio is the coloured squares, and the the colours represent the colours used in the work. For the gallery i have used lightbox so that it creates a simple but effective effect.

Screenbased Communication2
NEW BRIEF.
I know that i should want to learn new programs so that i can gain new skills but i am definitely not looking forward to building a website because me and computers really don't see eye to eye. Last year in screenbased communication 1 i had the same fear when faced with creating an animation on flash and although i still dont really enjoy working with the program, i did hand in a finished animation at an ok quality.
Instaed of worrying about the program for now i am going to begin the designs for my website.
My website is going to be:
-limited colours for the background
-small point size on the text
-simple navigation

Visual communication in context 2
I found that i felt slightly overwhelmed by this unit in the first few weeks because it had lots of short deadlines and not enough time to adapt the design after the final critique. out of the four projects within this unit i struggled with the thank you one the most and i am still not entierly happy with the design even now. The project that i am the most pleased with was the stationary design because i hadnt done any stationary before but it was enjoyable to do.
I also found the spam re brand challenging to do but the final design has come out well and i now wouldnt mind doing packaging design again.

Communicating ideas

Listening to the ted talks seemed to take forever. it wasn't that they were boring or even that i didn't understand the topics in the talks it was just that weren't really grabbing my attention. well that was until i started listening to Stefan Sagmeister talk about the power of time off and how by taking a break gives you chance to take in new experiences .
After some ideas generation i decided to create a logo and poster campaign for companies to encourage their staff to take time off to regenerate and renew making them more efficient when at work.

Packaging design

At the beginning of this project i was less than pleased with the list of products that we were given to re brand but after beginning the designs i found it challenging but enjoyable at the same time and i began to understand why we had been given the products. I had chosen to re brand spam so that it would be a more desirable product. After researching what was in spam and the varieties that i came in i decided to re brand it as a pate.
The final design is quite decorative and all the colours are from the original spam packaging.

Spam, Spam Spam, so much spam.
For the new to old project i have decided to re brand spam. I have began my research by looking at their website and i couldn't believe how much merchandise they have.

business identity

For this project i was give the chance to design a set of business stationary for Marie Curie (she discovered polonium and radium).
The idea behind the final designs is that she was a scientist and that was her life's work, so i decided to create a simple design that used a graphic logo based on how the element polonium looks under a microscope. I have selected all colours and typefaces from the the periodic table of elements.

Thank you

Thank You was a difficult project because finding the write person to say thank you to was harder than i had originally anticipated. After choosing a too wider audience to say thank you too (people who donate blood), i began to think about what i use every day and how to say thank you for it. I then decided to say thank you to Laszlo Biro (if your not sure that is the person who invented the biro).
After thinking about the reasoning behind why he invented the ball point pen i kept my final imagery simple.
Here are three initial designs:

Another year a new start.
Back again at the beginning of a new year trying to remember how to do work when faced with a new project on a short timescale. Too many things to do but still wanting to do the best i can, oh well this year is for pushing my self harder than ever.
